PDL07Z71 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I have an 07 nnbs silverado and I put some smoked LED tail lights on it that I got off of eBay. Not sure of the brand... At night they look good, but in daytime or direct sunlight you can barely see them lit up. I thought that would be the case for most aftermarket LEDs, I passed a similar truck in traffic a couple days ago with some smoked LEDs that were incredibly bright, so now I'm searching again. I am looking for something like these recon smoked red lights: http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?pk=181&pname=Part-264175RBK-RED-SMOKED-LED-Tail-Lights-07-13-Chevy-Silverado-GMC-Sierra-Dually&p_cat=44 Does anyone have these lights or similar lights with some pics of then lit up in daylight? I wish I could find some that were like escalade LED bright.
jdnoble18 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Aren't those the same thing as they sell on ebay?
Chris Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 They sell knock-off's on eBay. Here are my Recon's in the daylight
PDL07Z71 Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Those are definitely brighter than mine in daylight... I may have to suck it up and buy some recon's. thanks for the reply!
jdnoble18 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Well this is totally new to me, I always figured that recon = ebay.
Chris Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Nope, Recon is the name brand eBay has the knock offs. I did all 3 rear lights by Recon
Chris Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 http://www.amazon.com/Recon-264175RBK-LED-Tail-Lights/dp/B001BPZHY2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374169045&sr=8-1&keywords=264175RBK http://www.amazon.com/Recon-264125BK-Third-Brake-Light/dp/B000V9K0SW/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1374169115&sr=1-1&keywords=264125BK Will look odd with the third brake light not matching
PDL07Z71 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Thanks chawkins, that's actually a decent price for those! I may have to go for it. Dim taillights aren't exactly safe.
autobob01 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Check out the warranty on Recon products before you buy! Have a 6 month old Line of Fire that has LEDs out and some are brighter than others. This is their new 3mm LED technology they claim results in longer lasting, brighter LEDs, but only with a 90 day warranty!

autobob01 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 My old Line of Fire was 6 1/2 years old, was on two Silverados and an Avalanche and still worked on one side after a rear end accident ( poor little Toyota looked like it got hit with an electric can opener!). It was the old LED technology, the plastic case was thicker and just seemed better built. New one is thinner plastic, and after 6 months, some of the LEDS are brighter, like the brakes are applied, while the rest are normal except the ones burnt out. The problem with LEDs are once they are out they are done, can't replace them easily. And I certainly would expect more from a Line of Fire which is in a highly protected area.
