Dash Camera????

I've got the I-tronic in my truck.

The cam broke down due to the heat in the car in the summer.

In my company truck I've got a cheap camera like this:

http://www.amazon.ca/Monitor-Dashboard-VEHICLE-Accident-RECORDER/dp/B008912U82/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1376433982&sr=8-4&keywords=dash+cam

Still works. Shuts himself off when it gets to hot.

The quality of the pictures is not so perfect. But if you need the cam for 'just in case' recording it'll do fine.

If you wanna record the sight you better go with GoPro or BlackVue or even I-tronics.

Just turn the cam off when the truck is sitting in the hot summer sun.

The heat definitely gets to them. I always take mine out of my truck during the day or they won't last more than a few days of a Texas summer. In mine the batteries have swelled until they broke some of the circuitry. I've used the same one that you use in your company truck and it's good enough for CYA. Now I'm running this: http://www.amazon.com/2-5-inch-Vehicle-Recorder-Dashboard-Camcorder/dp/B0053DDNW6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376444745&sr=8-1&keywords=dash+cam . It's cheaper, works the same as the other one and records at the same quality. They're so cheap that I keep backups on hand!

The only thing about the cheap cams is that it is hard or even impossible to read the license plates.

I mean if the other driver takes of and I'm not in any state of "shock" I can write the plate# down.

That's why I went with the I-tronic. Nice recording, GPS, G-sensor etc. But the audio wasn't very good. Sometimes it is good to have the audio recorded as well...

The heat killed it.

I'm thinking about to give the BlackVue a try.

Given that I watch the temperature...lol...or I "customize" the cam a little.

Did you just recommend a dash cam that you said broke from interior heat? Did I miss something?

Heat is a big issue for dash cams. You can read about it all over the I-net.

And, yes you missed to read the last sentence.

I have a hero 2 go-pro that tags along with me on long trips, I set it down to 720p to save memory. Flick it on whenever traffic is heavy or I see something weird. Or bad driver.

Another idea is to get a windshield mount for your phone. Just plug it in during driving so no battery worries. Delete the file at your destination if nothing happens. And you can do most of the set uo and delete walking to and from the car so no real delay when you get in it
