Rear differential fluid

Went to the dealer they wanted 28 bucks a bottle for synthetic 75w- 90 that smells like grape. Whats everybody else using. Also do you or don't you need the additive with the g-80 rear-end they said I didn't but then again they tried to sell me the old pvc style.Thanks for your help

I bought the gm fluid at like $22 a quart  :D  :D

 

Next time i am going with Mobil 1 ($6.99 a qt)

You can use Amsoil Series 2000 synthetic 75w-90 lube. It is $9.20 a quart. Mine took just under 2 1/2 quarts. You can get the Amsoil off my web page. Depending on where you are located they ship it right to your door and will take two to three days.

 

You don't need to use the additive. That is for limited slip diff's not the G 80.

Is the fluid you are taliking about the same stuff I am asking about in the other post where I have on transmission clunk. I dont want to pay $22 a bottle if there is something better than smurf juice that will remedy my clunk. ???

City- The blue fluid is transfer case fluid and the stuff we are talking about here is for the rear differential.  Different fluid.  The autotrac fluid (smurf stuff) shouldnt be $22 a qt dont worry

Yeah, City, the smurf fluid is around $8 a quart, or so.
