P Window wont roll down when warm outside.

So I have been having intermittent issues with my passenger front window not rolling down. I noticed it a few weeks ago when I tried to roll down my window in the afternoon. It just makes a clicking noise so I assumed that the motor went bad, and I was planning on replacing it. Well a couple days ago on my way to work in the morning I accidentally bumped the button and the window went down and up no problem.

 

I then started doing experiments and noticed that when it is cooler outside the window works, when its warm outside it does not. In the mornings the tep is in the upper 40's/ low 50's and it works just fine, then in the afternoon when its mid 80's it stops working.

 

Any idea what might cause this?

This is a VERY common problem with all GM vehicles. The motor slowly burns out over time, causing it to overheat and quit working. The hot weather worsens the problem by warming up the copper inside the motor. Bottom Line: The motor is on it's way out, replace it before it goes completely tits up with the windown down!

 

I recommend ACI new motors from advance auto or Cardone motors from who ever is cheaper. Do not waste your time with a re-manufactured motor.

I'd replace the regulator/motor assembly, especially if has never been replaced before on your '03

I picked one up and will install it this next weekend. Funny thing, it was 90 this weekend and I accidentally bumped my passenger window and it rolled up and down just fine. So who knows

That was probably just a fluke. If it makes you feel better, remove the window switches, blast them out with electrical contact cleaner and then dry them with compressed air. That will make sure the switches are clean and working like they should but from everything you described, it really sounds like your lift motor is dying, not the switches. I have been through the window lift motor's dying in my pontiac 3 times now. The stock gm motor and the 1 re-man I put in there are crap. Get them out of there and install a new ACI or Cardone.
