So I have a problem here. My fathers truck that I've been driving for about 6 months now with no problem. About a week or so ago it's been having a hard time starting. I figured it was just adjusting to the cold weather since im in ct and its getting colder now in the mornings but a few times I've been able to get It started by pumping the gas pedal. Now when I try to start it, nothing happens. The starter turns over but nothing I do will get it to start.

Any ideas on #1: what the issue is and #2 if it is a common problem/ easy fix. Is this something I an do in the garage?

I'm pretty sure I have spark it's just no fuel seems to be getting there. Everything is acting like normal. My father seems to be convinced its the fuel pump because he said its physically inside the gas tank and I usually don't have more than 1/2-3/4 tank in. He said if it goes under 1/4 tank then the fuel pump is exposed an it will overheat and burn out. This sounds like it can happen, any insight? I don't know if that helps. Thanks for the reples btw

Bad pump or bad fuel pressure will cause the truck to not start.

You need to check your fuel pressure.

There is a test port on the rail I believe. You can get a gauge at your favorite parts house. Key on engine off. Should be something like 58 psi
