Nitrogen filled tires from factory???

Recommended Posts

I picked up my new 2014 GMC Sierra All-Terrain yesterday. It has black valve stem caps so I'm assuming it has been filled with just air. I did look at a similar truck at a different dealership. That one had green valve stem caps so I'm guessing it had nitrogen. Just curious if anyone knew if this is something dealers do on their own or if GM is shipping these trucks with nitrogen filled tires and mine just happens to have black covers.

Thanks

Either way, no extra benefit. Unless your truck is a jet plane making hard landings

E/E guys dont fill tires or accumulators... Didnt know they trained you s on the nitrogen cart

Thanks for the information everyone. I didn't plan on using nitrogen even if they did come factory filled that way. I finally have an air compressor at home and will just be using that.

I've driven on a runway once. Does that mean I should have nitrogen filled tires?

I love that... You know air has 78.09%nitrogen already lol

And that remaining ~20 percent is going to make a negligible difference in the temp/pressure behaviour of the vehicle, PV=nRT people!

Depends. Your vehicle fly any? Got 25+ ply tires? Take any hard landings? Then yes!

I did hit the speed limiter but 103 isn't quite V2 for a 2011 Silverado so no takeoff and thus, no landings.

So you can hit V1 and attempt to rotate?

I thought V2 was rotate speed?

I wanted to be a pilot when I was a kid, guess I'm a bit more rusty on that stuff than I thought.
