HELP!!- True flow cold air intake

Hello all, I am new to the forum and need some help. I
have a 2008 GMC Sierra All Terrain with 75000 miles on it. At about 25000
miles I had an off road performance shop put a leveling kit, magnaflow cat back
exhaust and a true flow cold air intake. I wanted a K&N but they told
me this was the best ect.... Yeah. I travel all around the country for
work, mostly staying in hotels so this means that I do not get to do my own maintenance
on my truck. I just got my oil changed (every 3000) and I was looking at
the "report" and it like all the others said my air filter was
perfect. With approx. 50,000 miles on the air filter I thought this was
weird. So I took it apart the other night and noticed that there was no
oil on it. From what I saw it’s a fiber (plastic mesh) maybe another
layer I could not see and that was it. I would have thought it needed at
least an oil base to catch the smaller dust particles. Now I am wondering
what kind of damage this may have caused, did I doom the life of my engine? I have not

noticed it buring oil. Thanks for the help, please feel free to ask any questions that may help.

Not all cold air intake air filters need oil. There are lots out there that are a dry filter. K&N, Volant, etc. all make them as well. You should check to see if yours falls into this as well before you start to worry your self to death.
