2008 GMC 2500 ext cab without bose

both front speakers are out so i am looking to replace them, i am not looking for a complete set up right now. Just front speakers. Ive been looking on crutchfield and talking to a customer rep.. they suggested these

But reading the reviews it doesnt seem like they are what im looking for and the rep was all about them. I also was looking at these

Pretty much what i want are speakers that will put out a pretty good mix of highs/lows. But i want something that packs a bit more bass, without the need of an amp or sub (i figure this would be hard to find?). Im no audio guru, more towards mechanical side of fixing the truck, so i really am not sure of what to look for when it comes to this stuff.

What would you guys suggest for an easy replacement at a decent price?

Of the two you have listed the polk is slightly more efficient with a 92db sensitivity as compared to 91. (remember a 3db change requires about twice the power)

Also the Polk has a slightly lower frequency response starting at 50 instead of 59.

Generally I say you cannot go wrong with Polk kids/highs. If you are never going to amplify them you may be able to get just as good of sound out of some of the "cheaper" speakers.

I personally would add an amp at the same time. Or go with a cheaper speaker and use my money to add a small sub.

Just looking at the two you have posted the JL are $105 more.

That is $105 you could apply to:

or

Do something like these and you will be another $50 closer to a small sub.

I am open to adding an amp i was just saying not right now just because of my budget (need speakers, tires, shocks, all that good stuff) but if i could find a good deal i could probably swing it. Is it possible to add an amp and speakers on a stock headunit? sorry im a newb.

if so is it possible for it to be under the $300 range?

thanks for the help

No experience with those but the best rule of thumb to keep in mind is the amp is more important than the speaker. Remember the speaker can only duplicate the signal that is sent to it.

If the amp is is not accurately processing the signal then.....

A speaker can handle WAY more power than it is rated for if it is a good CLEAN signal.

What you are trying to do is a tough decision.

The Alpines you have chosen have a frequency response that starts at 70. And a sensitivity of 88. That is a 3 db difference than the polks you linked earlier! That means they will be half as loud on 1 watt!

The Kickers have decent specks. I personally would go with Polk over Kicker.

I have not done car audio purchasing in several years. You may want to wait for some on some advice from somebody with current experience with what you are trying to do.

How about

I have had good luck with the Crutchfield Open Box and Scratch and Dent
