Is it the fuel pump

Hello,

I have a 2000 Silverado 1500, 4.8 liter, V vin. About 3 weeks ago I was pulling into a parking space and heard kind of a roar or buzzing sound. The truck died. I attempted to restart, it cranked but no start. Almost immediately the battery went dead. While recharging the battery I started digging around in the fuse box and found the ECM B fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and once the battery charged the truck started and ran fine. I drove home, about 30 miles with no issues. I also drove around town numerous times with no issues. About a week later I took of to go on about a 140 mile round trip, I made it there fine but on the next day on the way back the truck lost all acceleration going down the road at 65 mph. If you pressed the accelerator noting happened. As I started to slow down and pull over the engine caught again and I was under way. This continued to do this about every 10 miles or so. When I made it home it was dark so I left it setting over night. The next morning the battery was dead again but the truck jumped off and ran fine, drove it to town to get new battery! OK, tested fuel pressure, shows 45 psi. replaced filter, pressure still 45 psi. No gas leaks out from regulator when I remove hose. I can not get the problem to reoccur, I have driven all around town, up hill while accelerating and no problem. I am thinking of replacing the fuel pump because the pressure is a little low. Have I overlooked something? Any help is most appreciated.

45 psi is low, if that pump has over 75k on it, just replace it, I have an 01, and I can tell you these pumps are junk. Don't forget to do a filter while you're at it or your new pump will burn up. DO NOT get a cheap parts store pump, you will regret it in about 6 months. Get a Bosch, Delphi, or Carter pump. There's no guarantee this will fix the problem, but with low fuel pressure it's a really good idea.

Thanks, Definitely going with a name brand pump. The last on I bought was an AC Delco got about 100k out of that one.
