Remote Start Question

Jim, it's cold here.  Minnesota.  Battery is 1 yr old.  But it shouldn't matter because it started via the remote starter.  And it ran 10 minutes.  So whatever condition the battery was in when it started the first time, it should be better since it charged (or did it?) for 10 minutes.  And the engine compartment was obviously a bit warmer too.  It started once,  should have increased its charge from that point.  I don't think this is a battery issue.  Has anyone else experienced this weird occurrence?

I forgot to add, I'm going to measure the voltage at the battery while running under the remote start.  If it's 12V, it's not charging, if it's 14V, then it is charging.  We'll see, and I'll report back.

OK, I did the test, and it was -4 degrees F outside.  I lifted the hood, hooked up a DVM using test lead with alligator clips.  I then closed the hood with the DVM outside the engine compartment.  If I didn't hook up the DVM in advance, opening the hood to hook it all up would kill the engine.  Bottom line, it's charging the battery while running under remote start--the DVM read 14.4V.

My next test is to measure the current draw on the battery after a remote start cycle is done, and compare it to the current draw after the truck has been sitting after a keyed start and stop.  That should tell me if anything on the car is being left on after a remote start.
