$hit really does happen

Yesterday, I traded my 02 2500CC SB for an 03 CC dually.

 

Later in the day I went to pull it in the garage and clipped the left rear fender on the garage door wall.

 

Fiberglass cracked and chipped a piece off.

 

Went to get an estimate. $1700. The whole fender has to be replaced, repainted, etc.

 

So, all the negotiating, above and beyond, just went out the door. The garage door, as it were.  :-)

Hey lets get it out of the way-THAT #@$%ING SUCKS!! Okay now lets calm down. Congrats on the new truck I am sure it is GORGEOUS and this will be an easy fix that you will very soon put behind you. I too have done 4 figure damage to brandy new vehicles on garage door sides. I know the feeling and you are not alone. It is an easy fix though and the truck will be primo again. I would have a few beverages and a quality cigar and just sit down and look at good side of the truck and soak in all that fresh new luvvv that you have for it. Come to think of it I DID Screw up this truck too!!! Jack knifed a trailer backing in a hurry about 3 months ago. Repair refinish right lower panel,just under the 4X4 badge. See I almost forgot...just like you will eventually.Well kinda sorta.

My friend hit a deer on the way home from picking up his 2500 Avalanche.  So these things do happen, and your truck will be good as new soon.

I am not worried about the truck. It will be like new. It's that

$1700 outlay that hurts. OUCH.

 

BTW, While I was looking around for a truck, a dealer near me had one that got hit in their parking lot. They had to have that whole rear fender replaced/repainted too. They were going to sell it as new...

I remember when we were looking at my dad's Olds a few years back and the sales manager was telling a war story about someone who didn't get their insurance transferred for the new vehicle ahead of time and got hit leaving the dealership...not fun, but get the misfortune over now and let's hope for years of trouble-free driving.

I've told this before but I'll tell it again because to me it was great.  2001 F-250 with less than 10 miles on it hit a 2001 F-350 with less than 100 miles on it. the 250 was driven by the stealers son and he had been told not to drive any new trucks the 350 had just be bought and the guy was going to get tags and insurance on it (but didn't have it yet)  over $10,000 damage to each truck!!!

In 1997 I bought a new Suburban 2500 454 LT loaded on a Saturday. The following Monday Got rear ended at 327mi. $7,000 damage. I know misery loves company so lets get together with all these other poor souls and have a few.

2 wks to the day after i got mine i was at a wedding came out and noticed a wierd shine on the rear pass side by the fender flare.  Nice long scratch (deep and wide) and a dent.  The flare was also damaged.

 

Still to this day dont know who or what did it.  My guess was a homeless person with a shopping cart
