tailgate cables

Hi guys,

 

I have a question for you guys. I just recently got my new Sierra (first truck) and I was looking around it and I noticed something with the tailgate cables. When the tailgate is fully lowered only one of the cables is taut, the other one has noticeable slack in it. Is this normal? It would make sense to me they should both be equally taut otherwise only one of them is really doing any of the work? Again this is my first truck so not sure if this is normal.
