Engine Oil Overfilled - Engine Destroyed

I am currently having to replace my motor which is at only 143k miles . Walmart had overfilled my oil passed the max line. It was a total of 2 qtrs over max line. A few hundred miles past the oil change I noticed a mild ticking noise from motor . After further investigation I found a fresh oil leak . Not sure where it was coming from. When I pulled out the dipstick I had found the issue. Simply removed my oil plug bolt for a few seconds brought the oil to the max fill line. Went back to Walmart with the excess oil I had drained out. They had no record of doing the job. Told me there is nothing they could do at that point since I had "tampered" with it even if I could prove they did the service. This was at 138k. Something finally gave out in my motor. Sounds like a helicopter taking off now. Thank you walmart for destroying my motor and not owning up too it!!!

Prime example of why I do my own and if I have to take it somewhere I check it before I leave and keep my copy of the paperwork. Sorry to hear this happend to you, maybe time to drop in a 6.0?

I am with you on that .. I do it myself again now too. I keep all my receipts as well just lost mine at the time. I found it. I am taking them to small claims court soon

Does the receipt state the number of qts installed?

I don't understand how having to much oil in the crankcase would ruin the engine. For about 4 years I ran my 396 a full quart over all the time. It was a hot rod with a 4 speed that I took to the drag strip and street raced and never had a engine issue that was caused by to much oil. I do know that you can cause issues at high rpm with a small block but that only happens around 8-10,000 rpm and a windage tray will fix most of those. Just my thoughts on to much oil.
