Well I was reading the other post about Trading in your cars too soon.  Well lets here the stories of your previouse cars.

1. 1967 VW Beetle.  Completly rebuilt it and used it as a daily driver.  rebuilt motor twice and needed a 3rd.  Bought all new metal to replace the collision damage (not all my fault).  Then decided to sell it to get a quad.  It was too far gone to make it a show car.

2. 1982 BMW 320i  Had it for a week until I knocked a hole in the oil pan on a raised man hole cover.  Motor mounts were broken and motor hung lower than normal.  I burned out the bearings.

3.  1984 Cadillac Eldorado.  Had the garbage 4.1 V8.  I loved this thing.  Got it for free from my uncle.  Had tranny issues and would get stuck in 1st gear.  One day I got fed up and floored it when it was stuck.  At 55 MPH I head a loud BANG! and metal CLANG!  After that it worked flawlesly.  Until the power steering went.  I drove it like that for 2 weeks and then sold it to a friend for $400.  I made $300 profit.

4. 1981 BMW 320i.  Had it for a year and a few months.  Ran great.  Was a little Bat Out of ####.  I had Bricks holding the back of the seat coushon up.  Duct tape over the broken spring poping through the leather seat.  Shocks were not shocks.  Just metal tubes that moved up and down.  But in the winter the shocks froze and were really ridged and then it handled great.  The rear diff had a loud whine torwards the end.  The throttle got stuck one day and I red lined while shifting from 3rd to 4th.  I never heard of a 4 banger spin it;s tires that far up in the gears.  After that the cylendar heads were warped.  I sold to a desperate co worker for $500.  It still ran for another year.

5. Hand me down 1997 Hyundai Accent from mom.  Had for a year with no problems.  My brothers 1975 VW Vanagon Wesfailia died and I gave him the Accent and I bought a...............

6.  2000 Dodge Neon ES.  Great little car.  Zero problems to this day other than a dead battery.  And little Cosmettic stuff that I made the dealer fix.  I will be selling to get a 1999 Tahoe.  Only because I am ready for a new vehicle.  I am 6'3" and a 45 jacket.  So I am like a clown in a clown car.  Time to upgrade.

So how about it.  Lets hear your stories.

Later,

Brandon

1. 1996 Chevy S-10 reg cab/short bed 2wd 2.2 straight 4 base model.  I think about the only things that I did was get a bedliner, the windows tinted, and a sunroof installed.

2. 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 (see webpage since I don't feel like listing mods).

3. 2000 Grand Prix GTP bone stock for the most part.

Next.... who knows, I've got my eye on a few things though..

1. 1979 Mercury Cougar XR7 - Parents bought it new.  Bought from my parents in '88 after going in the Air Force.

2. 1980 Pontiac Sunbird - Inherited after me and my wife were married.  It was the car she got when she turned 16.

3. 1988 Chevrolet Beretta - Bought in February 1990 for just over $5,000.  My father-in-law was in a wreck in the Sunbird and it was totaled.  30-some thousand miles on the Beretta when purchased.

4.  1991 Chevrolet Silverado - Sold the Cougar to get this truck.  It had 16 miles on it when bought in May of '91.  The Cougar had 130,000 + miles on it when sold.

5.  1999 Chevrolet Silverado - Bough in January 2000, after my '91 was totaled in a accident (drunk driver).  The '91 had just over 89,000 when totaled.

6. 1993 Ford Tempo - Bought in October 2001 from a relative, with 48,000 miles, for $1,800.  Needed a car because the Beretta was costing too much to keep running.  Sold it for $400 with 189,000 miles on it.  We got our money's worth out of that car.  :thumb:

1977 Datsun King Cab - was a good truck.

1984 Jeep Cherokee - it did well off road but suffered from exhaust and oil leaks.

1986 Ford Ranger Super Cab - this truck had no options at all, but it was by far the best truck (probably the best vehicle) we have ever owned.  It had no A/C, manual everything, vynil seats, rubber floor, etc... I think the only options were the western mirrors and chrome bumpers.  This truck was bulletproof.

1990 Ford Taurus - aside from the terribe transmission, a great car.

1993 Nissan Quest - reliable, but that is about all it had going for it.

1998 Ford Contour - it is fast but uncomfortable and has had quite a few recalls.  It also likes premium batteries and tires (which it eats up in no time).

2002 Ford Ranger - only 3000 miles on it, but so far it has been a great truck.

Shanners.  What exactly do you do to get so many new cars?

I shop hard and drive a tight deal.  If you buy them right, you normally don't lose too much on them when you trade.

I think what you were really asking though was "what is my occupation"?

I've been a machinist for General Electric for almost 15 years.  The work isn't that great, but the pay is.  It's non-union work and the pay is close to... well it's very good money.  (If I were to work 8 hours on a Sunday I would make close to $350 for the day...)  My wife has a good job too...  :thumb:

1994 Dodge Dakota reg cab long bed 2wd 3.9 v-6 (auto )

Farm truck that I drove when i got my license back in '97 up until I bought my 97 k-1500 back in the summer of 2000

Still going out here one of our operators drives it now .

It has had the transmission rebuilt , new head gaskets , new water pump , fuel pump , generator , numerous suspension parts , and about  17000 gallons of unleaded put in it

...

1997 Chevy 1/2ton 4x4 4.3 (5speed :thumb: ) reg cab short bed

Good truck for the amount of crap I put it through

Have had a few problems

water pump, fuel pump, intake gasket , transmission(my fault long story) , rear end rebuild (also my fault and another long story) , transfer case , and a clutch slave cylinder.

....

1963 Chevy C-10 long bed 2wd 283 v-8 3spd

Our farm has had this truck since new . I dont really recall a lot being done to it besides regular stuff and a clutch but it was taken out of regular service with us when i was only 14

I now own it after getting it from my grandfather back a couple years ago .

I have done anything to it yet but I plan on dropping in a 350 with a 4 spd tranny sometime in the near future (next 18 months)

.......

We bought all these trucks new and we still have all of them today.

With all these pickups , our medium duty trucks and our equipment we are regulars over at the local Napa store

I've only listed the ones that have been or are actually 'titled' in my name.  There have been many many others I've been  "involved" with.

In my senior year of HS (74-75), I almost had a Chevy 'SS'.  Highly modifed, It had a very respectable reputation at ATCO dragway in NJ. but it attracted WAY too much attention from the local PD just driving it home. I got rid of it even before I titled it. Had it for so short a time I don't even remember the year on it or any of the other details just that it was candy apple red with a metal flake finish, aluminum dish wheels. 4 speed stick, ladder bars and a roll cage.  I bought it for 500 and sold it for the same amount a few hours later.  I found out later that when ever the police got a call about someone 'drag racing' on the streets, they would simply drive the guy's house and wait for him to come home (the judge finally told the owner to sell it or go to jail).  If PD saw the car on the road in their town they would follow it until it left their jurisdiction where the next town's PD would tail it.

The guy I sold it too, finished modifying so it was no longer street legal and trailered it everywhere.

bummed.
