Surely the 6.2L is an option for the PPV??

This is a special service vehicle, not a pursuit vehicle. They have the Tahoe PPV and the Caprice PPV (Police Pursit Vehicle) for that. They also have the Tahoe SSV for the 4-wheel drives, not pursuit rated. There really is no need for the 6.2L when the 5.3L will get the job done just fine. For departments now a days, fuel economy is of importance as well, unlike the old days.
