Crewcab speaker locations and sizes?

Recommended Posts

Just picked up my SLE Crew Cab earlier this week and really the only thing I don't like on it on the factory, non-Bose, speakers. I really want to replace them with maybe a small amp to get a better louder sound.

According to the brochure my truck comes with 6 speakers, 2 in the dash, 2 in the front doors, and 2 in the rear doors. But does anyone know what sizes are in there right now? I'm kind of thinking the two speakers on the dash are just tweeters/mids while everything else is a standard speaker. If thats the case I'll buy a set of Focal Components, run the woofers on the doors and the tweeters on the dash, then just buy a set of rears.

Any help would be great. Thx.

although I have a double cab, from the research I've done it seems to be 6.5 inch door speakers and .75 dash tweeters. I was thinking about getting them all replaced but from other models and some investigating the door speakers seem to be permanently attached to their mounting bracket. So you would end up having to buy 4 new brackets for the new speakers with all the correct dimensions to fit the door. I did attempt to look around for custom mounting brackets online but the truck seems to be too "new". keep in mind I havent taken the door panel off or anything so i could be wrong. I have the non bose system. I did manage to find a dual subwoofer box to fit under the rear seats and get my amp hooked up.

GM is offering the Kicker upgrade again for the 2014+ trucks.

Bolts right under the rear seat.

that's always an option aswell. although I paid half the price of that. The dual 12 inch box was 174$(including shipping) and are able to support up to 5-5/8 inch mounting depth subwoofers. picked up some rocksford fosgate prime 12's for 50$ each. hooked up my amp through a loc tapped into the passenger dash tweeter and all works smoothly. currently putting out about 1000 watts peak and 500RMS all together.

I spent 736 on an upgraded amp, DSP, and subwoofer from kicker. I will have it installed next weekend. I spoke with my kicker rep and the guy that developed this system and said you DO NOT NEED to upgrade the speakers with this upgrade. The DSP pulls a little of the low end from the doors and routes it to the subwoofer. It also enhances highs and gives it a wider and more defined soundstage. These guys told me to install the amp and sub first. then decide if I think its necessary to upgrade the speakers. They know I owned a JBL Sound Quality car that won Iasca world finals in 2011. They wouldnt BS me. But I will take it to the ultimate text next weekend. If you want the link for the kicker upgrade please ask and i'll send it to you! GM asks 1059 for the same system i got for 736 shipped

I've honestly never been a big fan of subs, I'm more into clear, and great sounding audio. I really just wanted to throw some Focals with maybe a small amp to power them.

I could never justify buying an 8 or 10 inch subwoofer for 700+. but that's just me.

I have a GMC CC AT, and just replaced all the speakers except the dash. In the front doors are 6x9' in the back doors are 6.5. I put in fosgate components 6.5, left the factory Bose components in place and working. Bought a JL 7000 series 5 channel to push all the door and added a low pro JL sub in behind the small rear seat. The sound is amazing. I will try and post some pics. Also mounted the amp behind the rear seat in next to the Bose amp.

Got any pics as to how you got the sub behind the seat?

Sorry. I meant the sub is under the small seat in back. The amp is behind the seat. Sorry for the typo
