Hi,

Haven't been on the forum long, just purchased my chevy recently. The truck is in great shape for having 200,000 on the dial. No major issues just small ones, I have one that is funny as heck but driving me nuts! The windshield washer stopped working suddenly, I checked the fuse (it was fine). I decided that i would by a new pump, after a frustrating two hours I got it in, still not working. Stay with me now lol. I then decided to change the module. I got it in and the truck put back together and guess what?? not working!!! As I sat dejected in the seat, for some reason i mistakenly hit the left turn indicator and said "what the f", i hit the washer switch and out comes the washing fluid!!!! The damn thing only works when the left indicator is on!!!!!! any ideas on what the heck is going on?? Thanks!, I'll be the idiot you're following with his left blinker on when there is no turn!! :-)

Sounds like a crossed wire somewhere in the turn signal stem. I'd pick up a repair manual for your truck and get the instruction of how to get in there and see if you can find any broken or melted wires.

Now the wipers only work on high or low! Im beginning to believe Im going to have to change the whole steering column cluster!, DAMN!

My turn signal use to activate my horn. So every time it would go "tick" when it blinked it would honk. MAde for some funny times haha. Replaced the whole blinker handle assembly. Wasn't to hard to do.

I bit the bullet and just ordered the multi function switch. With my luck the wipers would finally quit.............in the middle of a downpour lol

I just replaced the multi-funtion switch, the washer now works without turning on the left turn signal lol. Bad news is The intermittent wiper function doesn't work right nor do the wipers activate when i push the washer switch on. I replaced the wiper module last month so I know that works. the intermittent wipers work every third or fourth time I start the vehicle and once in a while the dash lights go out, the battery light comes on and the seat belt light glows, all of this for maybe a second or two. I am wondering if maybe the ignition switch is bad??. Chasing electrical problems is a royal pain!! thanks for any and all suggestions....

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.

      To me it honestly makes zero difference what filter you run. It's not a race engine, just a truck engine that's mostly bumming highways and it just needs a filter that filters oil.   The filter used to be a 7060 and the long version was a 7045. Now it's the newer updated filter that the K2XX trucks and newer run, the 100255 I believe if we are using napa numbers. Any of those filters is going to do the job.   I wouldn't overthink it, to me it makes no difference because those first filter numbers worked for 18+ years before the spec suddenly changed.
