DASH DIMMER

A small problem compared to some, but an issue (for me) nonetheless. The dash thumb wheel dimmer acted kind of quirky from day one. I never have the gauge brightness full. Sometimes they would suddenly change to that. I'd have to fiddle with the wheel to get them (and the MyLink screen) dimmed again. Yesterday it quit working completely. Guess I got to make an appointment.

Before you make that appointment, consider that the dash dimmer functions differently when the truck senses that it is dark out compared to when it thinks it is daylight.

In evening light, or early morning, the dash dimmer seems to act erratically because it is switching from night-mode to daylight-mode.

Yep. This. When the sensor on the dash senses darkness, it changes the dimming mode of the interior lights.

I understand the way it works. When it's working correctly though.

From day one, in total sunny daylight it would suddenly change from where I had it set to full bright. Now it doesn't do anything no matter what the time of day,or night. I'm fairly certain it's hosed.

We have a similar random problem with ours going dim for no reason. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/162450-does-your-2014-do-this/

I know this is an old post, but did you ever find out what was wrong with it. My 2015 Chevy Silverado is having a similar issue.

Hey Tonykb

You know, when I got my truck inspected in November of that year (2014), they (dealer) did something that corrected it. There was a software update they performed, but it wasn't related to the dimmer. If they told me that the update corrected the problem, honestly, I don't remember. Sorry.
