Taking 2014 silverado in for warranty issues?

Was wondering I have a list of nagging items on my 2014 crew cab 1500 silverado with 3500 miles on it not due for its first service for a while longer, never had any warranty issues on the 2007 or 11. When you have a warranty issue do you take your vehicle in for each item as it happens? or do you wait till it is service time? unless it is a safety or driveability issue?

Reason I ask if I took this 2014 in every time something comes up the way the dealers work here in the valley where they keep the truck the entire day whether they fix it or not I would never get to drive the truck much?

Since none of the issues are safety or driveability, but things like goofy a/c not working right, wind noise in front passenger door, driver seat making noise, radio reception problems etc. I am compiling a list and plan to give it to my service advisor who has been great to work with on my other 2 silverados--although she didn't have much to write up on them?

Just wondering how you approach warranty issues, rather loose the truck for several days as they look at what I have concerns with instead of going in constantly and loosing truck for day every week or so?

Talk with your service advisor, ask a loaner an appointment to solve all those items. He will give you a date when the shop has availability and they have a loaner (ask for a truck).

About the wind noise issue - I had my 1500 LT/Dbl in for excessive wind noise from the driver's side door/window. After much experimenting I determined the 'noise' was from the air vent on the drivers side (maybe even from all the vents). If I put my hand over the vent that points toward the driver's window the 'noise' stops - or if I turn off that vent the noise stops. So it was vent noise and not an air leak.

I put vent shades on mine and the wind noise got pretty bad. I took them off and it was gone. If you have the shades, that's your issue. As for other issues take it in whenever its convenient for you if its tolerable. I would get it fixed asap if it was me and let them pay for a rental truck.

Take it in each and every time...that way you can pile up the out of service dates in case you need to pursue lemon law.

My dealer service department has several "departments" so with a list of issues that would cross over several techs, it takes a long time since they don't work on them in parallel and fit into their schedules. For instance, vibration, radio issues and oil change could be three separate people. To change and balance tires, do the oil change and update my radio took 1 ½ days total. I always make an appointment and get a loaner unless it is just an oil change.

taking mine in this week (since the radio repair is not ready will not list it) I think I found my wind noise source (wow was it bad during one of our monsoon storms) when I look a the truck from the front the left front door is pulled in behind the left front pillar nicely, the right side where the wind noise is is sticking out a 1/16" or more is not snug in behind the pillar for air to flow over and around it, I think when the wind comes off at an angle with the right door not being snug it grabs the air and forces it by the two door seals, we will find out soon.

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
