Touch Screen Went Dead

Well, I've just experienced my first issue. An hour ago, I was pulling out of a parking lot and I noticed that the reverse camera came on but the lanes were not there. I didn't know what was up with that. So when I put it in drive to drive off the screen went black and the reverse lanes came on the screen and would not go away. All of the buttons, home, radio, media, volume know, everything will not work. I took it to service, but I have to go back on Wednesday. I can control everything from the display in the dash only, and all steering wheel controls work. This sucks. Has anyone experienced this?

Well, this is definitely a glitch. It's a good thing I took it to the dealer so they can witness the problem first hand. Just started the truck again, everything is working now. I wonder how long before this happens again.

Yup, I am having the same issues with my 8 inch touch screen, comes on and the after a little bit, goes blank. Have had it at the dealer 4 times for repairs already , the latest being this past Friday, And Saturday morning same thing again.... my truck only has 800 miles on it.

I had a similar issue where one day the screen just went black and wouldn't come back on. I took it to the dealer and there was an update for it. Once they installed that, it's been fine since. (that was back in March)

My screen has gone black about 4 times, all 4 times have happened when I turn the truck on and quickly put it in reverse. I can see the backup camera images but when I put it back on drive, its blacked out. All I've had to do is turn off the truck, take the key out and then restart it. Hasn't happened in a good while.

Had the truck for one week It happened to my truck while at the dealer resolving the vibration issue.

The service manager was about to test drive my truck when it happened.

Tried to refresh 3 times without luck.

Found out that was a bad module. Still waiting on the part.

I just started getting this when backing out of parking spots... what software version does your unit show now? I wonder if mine is up to date?

I've seen this in reported in one of the radio issue threads.

This happened to me yesterday. I started the truck and the screen was black. It randomly came on about 20 minutes later. I tried turning the vehicle on and off without any luck. Oddly enough, the system worked normally, just without the images. In other words, if I touched the black screen where the presets normally are, the radio station would change to that station! Odd. I hope the dealer can fix it!

Dead screen on 2014 GMC Sierra crew cab Z71. Fluttered and went black while driving straight ahead. Going to Woodland GMC on Thursday and will update what they come up with.

I had this happen on my 2014 Silverado. When I started the truck and started to drive away the screen was black. It didn't seem to respond to touches or anything. then next time I started my truck it was working. It has been working ever since but it does make me worry about it. With my luck it will go out for good just out of warranty. The next time I am at the dealer I am going to mention it to them.

Soooo, there is a wiring connection in the back of the screen harness that worked itself loose. I recommend checking it on your truck periodically so there isn't a short that actually does kill the screen. It worked itself loose (offroading will do that) and the steering wheel controls still worked as well as the analog dash buttons.

Also, there is a pending recall on all these trucks relative to the 4WD switch not engaging at very cold temperatures, just FYI a bulletin will be coming on this soon, have your dealers look at your model for relevant fixes

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
