2006 Z71 won't start

I have a 2006 Z71 that will not start, occasionally. If the fuel guage does not register when you turn the ignition key on, it will not start. The fuel pump also does not pressure up. If the fuel guage registers, the pump pressures up and it cranks fine. The key cylinder has already been changed and did not fix it. Any suggestions?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the fuel pump and associated gauge ground reference are the same I believe, so you may have an intermittent ground/power problem

Found it!! It was the fuel pump relay. If you left the key turned on for 2-3 minutes, the fuel guage would register and the fuel pump would power up. Finally got it to malfunction long enough to test and had no power coming from the relay to the fuse for the fuel pump.
