Flashing CEL and Stabilitrak Light On

Tonight I encountered my first problem since I bought the truck 3-4wks ago.

 

Merging onto the highway, the CEL began flashing and the Stabilitrak/TCS light illuminated, power dropped a bit and the Stabilitrak/TCS light went off after a bit, then the CEL went out and things were ok. When exiting the highway and coming to a stop the truck was shifting very harshly on deceleration... not normal at all.

 

I arrived at my destination, truck seemingly normal other than the shifting issues, and no lights illuminated on the dash.

 

When leaving tonight, neither of the lights were illuminated on start-up or the drive through the parking lot and shifting felt normal. When I left the parking lot, pulled out onto the road and stopped in the turn-around(Michigan Left), still everything fine... when accelerating out of the turn around at about 1/2 throttle, the lights came back, but this time the truck was stumbling and was noticeably down on power. I pulled off the road, shut the truck off for about 5-10 seconds and restarted. The CEL was not flashing, but was solid. All things were normal except for the harsh shifting again.

 

During the drive home, both on the highway and on rural roads, the CEL would begin to flash and the Stabilitrak/TCS light would come on... this happened about 5 times over the course of 25 miles.

 

I've searched on Google, and I've seen two possible reasons for this, so far: 1. Stabilitrak system needing service; 2. There is an engine problem(Only read one case of this being the problem).

 

I see that my local GMC dealer's service dept. is open tomorrow, so It looks like I'll be getting it in ASAP. I'll report back my findings and any results from my visit.

Truck details:

2014 GMC Sierra SLT All-Terrain 4x4 CCRB
5.3L, 3.42 axle ratio
~18,800 miles

No modifications, other than vent visors, tonneau cover, and bedrug.

Bet a wire fell off your coil pack

 

mine came off from cylinder 6 driving down a dirt road

Before you take it in, unplug all of the plug wires from the coils and the plugs and make sure they are secured on both ends. Some issues of them not being plugged in all of the way causing this issues.

 

I would do that before I left my truck at the dealer for a majority of the day waiting on them to find the issue.

So just checked, and sure a sh*t the spark plug wire was loose as a goose on the third cylinder back on the drivers side of the engine.
