New HVAC control unit

I installed a new dual climate control unit today on my 2004 Silverado. Everything works perfect except nothing happens when you press the recirculation button. The light comes on but it neither turns on nor off, the air comes out the same speed, unlike the original unit.

 

Do I need to have this programmed / flashed to work with my truck or is it a bad unit?

Probably bad unit. No programing is required

Probably a bad recirc actuator. You can do an actuator recalibrate but normally a new controller will automatically calibrate.

There is a relearn procedure that must be done, I think. I went through this with my truck a few years ago. I think you set the airflow selector to the vent setting. Disconnect the battery let it sit for a few minutes, re-connect the battery then turn the key to the on position, not start and let it cycle for about 2-3 minutes.

 

My HVAC system lost its mind a few years ago and I had to do this process, I think I did it 2 or 3 times and it cleared it up.

Have done all the recalibration, Recirc still does nothing, Im going to replace actuator motors.
