2006 extended cab rear door handle

I have a 2006 2500HD extended cab. I went to open left rear door by door handle in door jam and something snapped and handle is loose and won't work. Also inside handle won't work. Door has been hard to open for some time before this happened. Thanks for any help.

I'm curious on this also...mine (02 silverado 2500hd) is in the beginning stages of difficult to open also

Just fixed it on my 04 2500 hd. Take the interior panel off and you will see these little tiny plastic tabs that hold the rod to the latch. Those tabs broke. Get new ones. I found mine at a junk yard dirt cheap.

Makes sense...Sounds very familiar and similar to what happened to my tailgate handle with the rod and little clips

How do you take interior panel off when you can't get door open

Go through the other side. With seats up and front seats all the way forward you should be able to get it off. Once it's off you can open the door by manually popping both hinges.
