2010 Silverado LT 1500 2WD backup camera in mirror

The camera works some of the times. I am thinking it gets wet or fogs up and won't display. Some of the time it's just black like not an option in the rear view mirror. Other times it will display like it's there but no picture. Then sometimes it works fine during the day and/or night.

It seems when it act ups it's in the morning, when it rains, or during high humidity which is about everyday in Houston, Texas.

Is there something I can check or does it needed replaced?

It's a factory installed system.

I would check the connector right after the wiring leaves the tailgate. This is the connector for removing the tailgate.
