2006 Silverado 5.3L O2 Sensor 1 Voltage

Hello, I've been getting a P0446 for a while, I've fixed it a couple years ago (by replacing the solenoid) and then it came back, I fixed it again recently (by blowing out the hoses and solenoid) and it came back, and I'm still researching it. I'll probably pull the charcoal canister next and see if I can clear out more hoses or something.

While looking at the output of my OBD scanner, I just happened to notice the O2 Sensor 1 voltage looks very erratic. It is jumping around between 0.00 and 0.80 volts. The O2 Sensor 2 voltage is very steady at 0.68 volts. My question is, does that mean the O2 Sensor 1 is bad, and if so, where is it on the truck specifically? Also, could that possibly be related to my annoying P0446? No other codes are present.

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Can't tell you anything about the sensor. One of my 02 sensors went bad this summer and it threw a code, replaced it and it's been fine since. If there's no code I wouldn't think anything is wrong.

As for the charcoal canister I bet it's plugged. With the original style solenoid it doesn't take long. I replaced both the canister and the solenoid. You'll be wasted time trying to clean out the canister. I got the new style solenoid which comes with a standalone filter, and ran hose and placed the filter under the hood. All in, under $200 to do.

On my 2003 the P0446 code ended up being the fuel pressure sensor in the tank. I wouldn't worry about the O2 sensor unless it was showing a code for it.

The rear O2's monitor catalyst efficiency only and fronts monitor your air fuel. Switching on the front sensors means they are working correctly.

Your code is unrelated to the O2's.

Thanks guys, that helps with the O2 sensor switching question. I've read over the whole P0446 thread many times and will keep at it, didn't want to start a new one about that. Will see if I can monitor that fuel pressure sensor. I may need to replace the canister but hate replacing stuff without knowing for sure it's the problem.
