I'm running out of places to look for help. I have to write a paper (due next tuesday) for my war and film class, but it requires someone that either served in WW2 or lived in through that time period.

so if anyone knows someone or has some living grand parents (or something similar, sadly all mine have passed away) that they could ask a few questions, or maybe send me an email so i could ask that would help a lot.

I need to find out details of their wartime experience.

Did they serve? If so, where?

Did they witness combat? What was daily life like for them? basicly a recollections of their experience.

if anyone could help in any way that would be great. thanks.

Jeez, they are STILL assigning that one?

Sorry, I know no one.

If you are in a pinch, go to the local VA hospital. They are full of heroes that would love to share with you for hours on end. I'm not kidding. They live to tell.

Here is a starting place, if that is the route you want to take.

Hope that helped a little.

The VA Hospital is a great idea...  also your local nursing home would be a good place to look.

Either place i'm sure someone there would absolutly love to spend an hour with you.

Oher options are local Veterens home or a VFW, American Legion or AmVets post.

I would suggest that when you make arragnements to talk to these Vets, take a video camera (or tape recorder) with you.  They will have so much to give you, that you may not be able to take notes fast enough. (I did this when I met my 96 year old 'great uncle' and got the history of how he, his brother and his cousin (my grandfather) all came to this country from Euorpe at the turn of the century.  Having the tape allowed us to 'fill in' missing histories.).

Do a group session first if you can.  One guy telling about a story will trigger memories for the others and you can get a whole lot better and more complete info.  When you get  these guys together in like this, they will open up a whole lot more than if you do a one-on-one.  Speaking as a vet, I know I will tend to share more with someone with whom I share a 'common' background or shared experience.

bummed.

I would have the perfect person to talk with, but sadly he passed on a couple of years ago.

These men are great people, we can learn a lot from them.

Yep, we can learn a heck of a lot from our vets and just the older generations period.  The main secondary road we live off of has a bend near the stoplight 2 streets down...well this 90-something year old lady who has since passed told us that it was due to the men walking their livestock around a mud puddle that was there...then they just ended up paving the road that way.

My Grandma was a "Rosie The Rivetor" during WWII.  I interviewed her last semester for a project I was doing.  If you wna that info I'll be glad to pass it on to you.  Just let me know.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
    • Sounds like a smart reasonable person with common sense. Bill O’Riley never said he was just a journalist, by the way.
