Yeah that should work without any problems. That's only a 32.2" tire, and the newer trucks are really forgiving when it comes to running larger tires. Plus, a new sierra 4x4 that comes with factory 20's has a 275/55/20 tire, which comes out to a 31.9"....so you should be fine, as long as your truck is a 4x4.

I was more worried about the width more then the height. As long as the offset of the 20" rim is the same as the 17" then i should be fine.

I think the 17's actually have a higher offset than the 20's. I really think you'll be just fine with the 275/70/17's. That extra 10mm of width isn't going to make much difference.
