Rear brakes are making a springy sound right before it stops 2007 gmc

I recently changed my rear drum brakes on a new body style 2007 gmc Sierra 4x4. It stops good, but right before it completely stops, I hear a spring sound. My emergency brake is also twice as tight as it use to be. Maybe the new shoes? I took it back apart and sprayed it with brake cleaner, and it stopped for a days, but it's back. This was my first rear drum brake job. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help

There are 6 flat spots on the backing plate (3 for each brake shoe) that the shoes actually slide on when brakes are applied and released. When replacing the shoes these spots need to be lightly sanded and lubed with brake grease to prevent noise. The fact that the noise went away for a short time after spraying with brake cleaner indicates that this could be the issue.
