Adjustable ride hight (shocks?) for lowered trucks....

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I had a question about the adjustable "stiffness" shocks. Friend of mine told me about them and I don't know much about them, my truck is lowered 3" in the rear to "level it" and so when I carry a load or pull a heavy trailer it seems to sag the back quite a bit so I thought I could look into putting something like these to be able to raise it when needed.... Any suggestions?

I realize that air bags r an option but puttin on board compressor and all that or having to fill them everytime I have a load seems like it maybe just as bad as have to deal with leaks and what not. I saw on one tread someone mention timbren and I like the idea but not sure if the ride is really not affected

I'm not sure you'll like them with the lowered suspension, but i'm not sure how big they are vs your new clearance...

I installed 2 on board compressors and a system so I can fill the airbags and see how much air is in them from the driver seat, and it's pretty nice when it's loaded to just flip a switch and have the bed some back up to where I like it.

Yea that would be ideal but what did something like that run you? The timbren r like 250 and they say there are some configurations for lowered trucks..

Why TWO compressors? One for each airbag?

Nope, for fun :) I have an air horn and an auxiliary air hose port for filling up tires and my air jack, as well as pool toys.

One compressor is more than enough for the accessories in the truck, I just like the extra air flow when inflating stuff.

What air bags are you running? Do they fill pretty fast? Easy to install?

Fire stone, I got them on Amazon. They come with brackets and everything for the truck. the bags go in pretty quick, like two hours tops for a normal installation. Mine took longer because I rigged a bunch of extras with them

And yea they fill pretty fast, even on my tiny air system I'm full and moving in a matter of seconds... I can't comment on how easy it is without an on board system

Where did u mount ur tank and compressor? I haven't heard much about Firestone brand, how do they match up to other brands in ur option?

I don't know about other brands... I got them on amazon with free shipping because I'm a prime member so that was a factor for me... I like them though.

I mounted them on my spare battery platform:

Most of the wiring in that picture is for the switches I set up so I can do everything from the drivers seat. You only need one compressor, I have two because I felt like it.

Dampers with adjustable damping do not affect ride height; they control wheel oscillation better at higher damping setting during towing.
