I think he's saying he doesn't like auto 4x4 and would rather use 4x4 lock.

 

I like auto 4x4 for snow and ice, it's perfect. You don't have to worry about the transfer case binding, and it kicks in really smooth when you need it.

 

But using it on wet roads seems like overkill. My pickup will spin the tires with any more than 50% throttle on dry pavement, even less on wet, and I've never felt that I was fighting for traction. You just have to go easy on the throttle.

 

Growing up on gravel roads you learn how to take out without spinning the tires.

I didnt buy it. It was handed down to me. Besides i really like the luggage rack and wheels. I think the auto 4 option was a big selling point for moms with suv's because its safety driven. Also a reason why im not sold on auto 4 is that it takes a second to kick in. In that 1 second you could have already lost it. Once you stop, your stuck

If yours is taking a second to kick in then I'd say you may have a problem within your system. The only delay I have ever felt was in the rear locker but the front diff has always kicked in instantly. I've confirmed that more than a few times while playing in snow or mud.
