Hood won't latch

Hey guys looking for some help here. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado with only 17k miles. On my way home the hood made a thump. I got out to see what was up, and notice the hood was open. I opened the hood and tried to shut it and it will not close. The latch inside the cab was in the pulled position and won't release. The cable is hooked up and everything. Being a few miles from home I put a tied down on the hood to prevent it from opening fully on my drive. I have a 60 mile drive to work and chevys service department is closed and nobody can help me. I called road side assistance and they said they can have it towed but I'm on my own with getting a rental and Id have to pay for the rental. 34k dollar truck and I'm driving with a tie down. Any ideas on getting it closed with greatly help.

Seems like the latch is in the open position. Try some WD-40 and something like a screwdriver and push the bottom of the latch to maybe push the top of it closed.

Gave that a shot and nothing wants to move.

It's at the shop now and they did pay for a rental.
