I recently purchased an '07 silverado 4x4 6.0L vortec max and it is giving me the traction control light on the dash ans says service traction control service stabilitrac. I have turned both off but i cant get the problem to go away. It gives me a very hard shift inbetween 1st and 2nd gear when the light is on. Sometimes the light is off and there is no shifting problem at all. I have a serice appointment soon but until then i have heard to just take out the traction control fuse. Can anyone tell me what that fuse is!???

Don't worry about what fuse it is unless ya have service information , my point in saying that is ... Get it fixed properly , don't cut corners and think taking the fuse out will help you in any way , the system is already disabled because of the message , meaning there is a code to have scanned and diagnosed , a harsh shift is not typical of a default in the stabilitrac and trac control DTC ,

There is nothing you can do , so take it to a garage that has enough brains to fix it

Nothing wrong with a harsh shift , besides drivability , it's the slow sluggish slide in shifts ya have to worry about , kinda bad for clutch packs and band material if ya get my drift technically lol

Fuse is in the owners manual , that unused book thing in your glove box thing that there !! Lol

Oh and wrong forum , they'll move it soon you hope

Exact same problem!

I have a 2007 Sierra 4x4 5.3L and this has happened to me for years. I start my truck and stabilitrack turns off. I drive 200 feet and all the warnings and lights disappear. I have taken it to the shop to get looked at and keep getting told 'bring it in when the lights are on'. I've read lots on this problem and have not found an answer. Some say sensors, some say servicing it, some say fuses.

Anyone else have an opinion on this??

Thanks,

vanspek

In my experience, sometimes the 'Service Stabilitrak' and 'Service Traction Control' messages are indicative of error codes being thrown for other problems. My '09 Silverado has said that occasionally, when the Throttle Position Sensor went bad, and also for various minor misfires due to AFM oil-fouling the spark plugs. In my case, after shutting off and restarting or driving a little while, the messages will go away. Most of the time, no error codes are being stored on my truck long enough for OnStar or the GM dealer to see what the codes are.

When my 2011 Silverado had around 52,000 miles on it I had the Service Stabilitrak; Service Traction Control - come, as well as the Service Engine Soon light, also my truck went into reduced power mode. In my trucks case it was the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) had failed. I had the TPS replaced on the throttle body, they also reprogrammed the engine computer as well. That fixed the issue, now I'm nearing 79,000 miles and I've never had the problem since.

From what I understand the TPS on these trucks are an Issue. I know GM redesign the sensor and that eliminates the issue it had.
