HEAT/AC BLOWER NOISE

I have a 2014 double cab Silverado 1500 and the past couple days in Michigan it has been colder than normal....temps are below 10 degrees. I have seen a couple comments about this on other posts but wanted to start a new post dedicated to this issue. I have heard there is a bulletin out about this issue as well....anyway no matter if it is cold engine or been driving for 2 hours my blower makes a god awful sound out of it when in the high position or 2nd - 3rd from full high position. It really sounds like there is ice in there to me, or possibly some debris (maybe plastic or insulation) I just dropped truck off this morning at dealership for this issue so we will see what they find or come up with. I knew this was going to happen but soon as I get to dealership and they restart truck to bring it inside it barely does it and sound was very faint and only on full high this time but still did it and they were like "we don't hear anything!" Anyone else having this issue? Never has done this or made this noise until 3 days ago when temps got below 10 degrees. Is there indeed a service bulletin out on this? Any info or fixes would be great to hear from anyone. Brand new trucks should not be having these issues but we all know its possible and does happen.

I had this same noise - possibly some debris (maybe plastic or insulation) after I had my truck about 1 week, but it has not done it again. It was as tho the fan blade was hitting something - pretty loud I thought. I was about to take it into the dealer but then I could not get it to do it again and has not for the last 10 months. I picked up my truck in Dec of last year and the temps in SC were very mild.

I had somewhat of a hissing/whistling noise from my dash that sounded like a HVAC noise. It only happened on the coldest night when I was driving on the highway. If I turned the fan off, the whistling continued though so this may not be the same issue.

Mine did the same thing.Noticed clear plastic over gauges was fogged up as I drove into work(had remote started it to warm up)no abnormal noise.Left at 12pm to head home fan sounded like an old out board motor....turned fan on and off to check,headed for dealership,parked inside and waited my turn ...of coarse when I turned it on no noise...Thankfully there had been a truck in the day before with same problem...-13 Celsius here today.seems to cure itself as it thaws out.

Mine started making an awful noise and vibration this morning when my fan speed is any higher then half. Vibrates so bad I can feel it in the pedals and the floor boards. It was -5°f this morning and got up to 10° this afternoon and still made it. It was 10° yesterday and didn't make a sound. The quickest I could get it in to the dealership is next Tuesday

Anyone find out what's causing this. I think moisture is getting in the fan blower housing a freezing on the fan fins causing total imbalance,just a guess.

Reviving an old thread. I just picked mine up yesterday, and it's making a rustling noise when the fan is turned on (at any setting). It's not cold enough for frost. Noise goes away as soon as the fan is turned off. There is a TSB for this?

My 14 did this when it was cold I took it into the dealer and it ended up being Ice/Debris build up.

Haha, I am missing the facepalm emoticon here, but I figured it out. All the damn vents were shut when I picked it up, so the air had nowhere to go and was whistling through vents. Opened things up and voila, no more noise.
