Good morning...Im brand new to this forum. So here goes. I have a 2003 Sierra 4.8 recently upon using auto 4wd and going back into 2wd it seems that my front axles are still engaged.....t-case is engaging and disengaging properly and the push button selectors are working fine....I can also hear the actuators doing their job....or at least trying too...I say "the front axles" because it feels like its dragging and its humming as if engaged..Any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope i've explained the symptoms well enough....thank you....meanphil....

My prevous 06 would sound like that from time to time. I would just leave it in Auto for a few extra miles & then switch to 2wd & it worked everytime as advertised.

Nope...tried that. Along with switching in and out of 4hi and 4lo...back and forth up and down the driveway.....service 4wd notice came on 1 time and then never again.....checked for code with a handheld reader and found nothing. Although I've heard that the little handheld code readers wont pick up chassis codes......?!
