distributor wires?

Truck was sick we changed distributor cap and button now truck wont start. Out of correlation? Had heard that there was a wire connector that needed to be un plugged and plugged back in to get the cam and crank sensor back in sync is this true and where is connector on 1998 sierra with 4.3 vortex? Any help would be great only mode of transportation right now.

I have had issues with my 5.7 in my 98. It took 3 different shops 2 years to diagnose my poor or non starts and flooding to my distributor cap and rotor. They said after market brands just don't work on this engine, they crossfire. I needed to get OEM parts. Been great for 2 years. Changing the cap and rotor should not affect the timing, moving the distributor at all will.
