Rear end help please

I have a

2000 chevy 1500 and it has an open diff and I need to change the side gears but upon ordering the kit it wants to know if both the side gears are the same or if on side gear has a larger opening than the other? Is there another way to tell besides tearing off the cover? What was most common ? Thanks

I've never seen side gears with a different size .... I'd see a dealer parts dept for competent counter staff ,,,their catalog narrows down to YOUR truck

Ok I got it figured out it has the one big openings nd one small opening

It's not the gear itself it's the opening in the side gear.
