It's the little things...

I've had my truck for all of 3 days, but already found some annoyances.

1. Why can't I turn my cargo light on while I'm in drive? I like to check my load from time to time.

2. Why didn't they put my current speed on the same screen that shows the speed limit in the dash cluster?

All in all, awesome truck, just those couple annoyances for now.

I had the same issue with the cargo light, was chatting with a state trooper buddy of mine, and he pointed out that technically (at least here) it is not kosher to operate the cargo light while in motion on the roadway.

As far as your other issue, I guess I don't understand what you're describing there.

I was thinking about it after I posted...

Federal Regs mandate that forward-facing lights are white and/or white lights must face forward. Allowing the cargo light to operate while in motion would be a violation of that.

What about how they removed the rear cup holders that unfolded from the center console? I understand it has one that folds down in the seat but when you've got 3 people in the back seat one has to politely ask the other if he/she could put their drink in the door, that really screwed things up instead they have replaced it with another storage place for whatever you could stick in there.

1. Being in D is not the limitation - it's moving forward over a certain speed (10MPH?)

Do you know how many times I've driven behind idiots with their cargo lights on and shining in my face? I'm guessing this is either a DOT reg that it's not allowed to be on while in motion, or GM took the proactive step.

I'd imagine I've been behind a loose load about as often as you have been behind a lit cargo light. It's likely a wash.

I have issues with

Small sunglasses holder

Cheap paint used

Not being able to lock the bed when i lock the doors

Weak entertainment system / Nav ( I called gm and recommended them to fire their developers)

No air vents into the rear seats.

Beyond that, I do love the truck.

Also how do you get the seats to heat up when you do remote start?

Heated Seats with the Remote Start is A) a configurable item in the Settings and B) requires an outdoor temperature below a certain level (I forget the outside air temp).

Well, not so many things bad here! Great. Headlights and rear ac/heat vents are important though.

I've had my truck for a year and a half. Out of all the things this truck has going for it, the worst area is the entertainment / NAV system. I've had a number of issues:

  • XM radio audio quits intermittently. I'll start the truck, no XM audio. Shut the truck off for 5 minutes, audio is back. Start the truck any sooner, no audio.
  • Unbelievably slow voice recognition. Ask to play Album x from my media card, wait 30 seconds and it finally finds it. I have the fastest SD card I could find installed. My wife's 2013 Ford Escape finds the album, on the same card, in less than 2 seconds.
  • Have to load album art into every song to get the artwork to display. It will not use the artwork file for the album. Again, this is not an issue with the Ford.
  • Hate the UI. It's a truck, not a cell phone! Favorites bar is a joke.
  • The manual claims you can load POI's into the NAV system by building a CSV file, in a format described in the manual. 1st, format in the manual is wrong. After exporting all my POI's from my Garmin, placing them on a USB stick, it took hours, and several variations of the CSV file to get them to load. After a map update, all the POI's were gone! (I know I wasted money on the update). Anyway it took several hours and many attempts to get the POI file that loaded before the update to load again. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, but I have over 100 POI's.
  • Now that the POI's are loaded, and the USB stick is no longer in the truck, I get a random message on startup that new POI's have been found and do I want to load them.... What?
  • After setting a new destination, I can't save it. It puts the saved data into Contacts (really?). The next time I access contacts, the saved destination is gone.
  • Headlights are terrible.

Most of my issues are minor when compared to the complexity of this truck. I love it, but as mentioned by Rock1500 above, the developers for the info system should be fired.

End rant!

I have given up on trying to make the album art work for every song on my SD card. About half of the album art works and the other half don't. I've tried to figure it out but there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it chooses to display some album art and not others. I've tried using uniform pixel size and shape but with no luck on some songs.
