I bet you could use voice to say "navigate to contact: Home" and it would probably do it too.

 

Now that's funny. It doesn't understand anything else I say, why would it understand that? lol

 

For me, I'm just going to plop down the Garmin on the dash and not bother with the integrated system. My Garmin is WAY better and can still "talk to me" while I'm on a phone call if I need it to. Plus, the stupid display changing over on an incoming phone call will never leave me without a navigation map again.

I have to agree that the factory NAV is the worst ! I wish I wouldn't have got it. I prefer my Garmin any day. Forget telling your factory NAV anything with voice commands. GM missed big time with their NAV.

I didn't read all of the replies but the end call button on the steering wheel controls also serves as a mute/unmute for the radio.

My Garmin is now in my truck. I looked for one WITHOUT navigation, but there wasn't one that qualified for the rebate that didn't have it. I'm happier spending a few extra dollars on a navigation device that works than I am on buying a tune to fix the AFM and transmission issues.

I learned recently, since installing the Garmin, that the accessory outlet on the dash (not the one inside the console) is "always on" while the one in the console is on when the truck is on / in ACC mode. Disappointing for me since I really need the one on the dash to be off when the truck is off.

 

Anyone know of an easy mod for that?

Page 9-30 in the Chevy Silverado Owners Manual says...

The source of power for the APOs on the center stack can be changed

from direct battery power to RAP by moving the fuse at location 10, in the left instrument panel fuse block, to position 11. Once the fuse is moved, the APOs will continues to work for up to 10 minutes or until the driver door is opened. See

Instrument Panel Fuse Block (Left) on page 10-49 or Instrument Panel Fuse Block (Right) on page 10-52. If you are not comfortable

performing this change, see your dealer.

Awesome! I can't comment on page numbers and such for the Sierra manual, but it's the same exact setup on my truck. I swapped the fuse over to the other position and voila! I now have the kind of accessory power setup that I need!

 

I never would have thought to look in the manual, and probably wouldn't have even understood what I was looking at if I found it. Thank you for the guidance on that!

 

Kudos back again to GM for making it a user-settable option!

 

NOTE: The hardest part of the entire process was pulling hard enough on the side dash panel to pop it off. Well, that might have been the second hardest. The hardest might have been getting up the courage to pull that hard.

My bluetooth decides when it wants to work, sometimes it just unlinks my phone and relinks during conversations. The back up camara staying on for 10 seconds after I put it in drive makes me sick too haha.

I think you press unlock a couple of times and then press and hold.

That is correct after enabling the function in your radio settings, you just unlock truck as normal and press unlock again and hold five seconds. The windows will go down after that.

No rear vents

Headlights are pretty bad
