Fishing Rod Holder for bed

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am thinking about making a rod holder for the bed of my truck so that I wont have to lay them down with the rest of my things. Has anyone ever made/purchased one? I found a nice one but it was about $500 and that is a not an option. If you have something like this a picture would be awesome. I heard a simple rod holder made with pvc (like the picture below) holds up pretty well.

Thanks in advance!

I feel it's too risky to get such a rod holder. With all the stories I hear of anglers getting their gear stolen out of their trucks and boats because they leave them in the open, I will invest a little money into a nice tube to safely secure my rods.

"A.R.E.'s roof rack mounted Rod Pods will help every angler keep their gear secure and organized. At 8 ft. long and 6 inches in diameter, they can comfortably accommodate a number of rods in each tube. The spring loaded end cap can accept a padlock, so security will never be an issue." - A.R.E.

And with that on top of an A.R.E. cap, I can safely and securely keep my tackle and other gear organized in the bed of my truck without fear of it being stolen.

There's a local guy here that has a rod holder fabbed from either SS or aluminum that he made that clamps to the top of the front wall of the bed. It clamps with security fasteners so that it can't be stolen without a great effort and time. It also has a cable lock that helps keep the rods/reels from being stolen and possibly bouncing out of the holders.
