Allison Trans Fluid level

My 2500HD with 8.1/Allison has about 5K miles. When I checked the trans level on the dip stick when it was cold, it would always be just above the hot level marks. After I drove it until it got hot, the fluid level was in the hot range. This weekend, I change the fluid. I measured the amount I drained, a little over 7 qts. I refilled it and drove the truck till it was hot. The fluid level was in the expected hot range on the dip stick. This morning I checked the level with the trans cold. Same as before, fluid level slightly above the hot level.

Anyone seen this?

Checking it when cold is pointless.

 

All that matters is when warm.  If it's in the normal range warm, I'm not concerned.  If it's in the same range cold, oh well!
