Box wrench will do the least amount of damage.

Tape it then use the correct combo wrench, i.e. 3M blue masking tape

i used black electrical tape last time. It just tore apart when tightening. Why the 3m tape?

It is made so the adhesive will not ruin paint.

I used to have an orange nylon/plastic tool that was designed specifically for this. It would slide down over the antenna and was a solid box style fit. No idea what happened to it. I think the dealer gave it to me. Think it was back when I got my 2002. It was similar to this but had shoulders like a box wrench.
