My 92 C1500 (5.7L, 4L60) is experiencing what I would describe as "shift lag" in first and sometimes second gear.

Instead of shifting around 3000 rpm like I would be expecting, the truck is pretty much going to redline before shifting. Sometimes it will shift on time if I help things out by taking my foot off and back on the gas at the appropriate shift point. I had read that the throttle position sensor could be culprit and since it seemed the easiest thing to do, I replaced that. While the truck seems to run a touch better at idle with the new sensor, it doesn't seem to have helped the shift problem at all. What else is worth investigating for this issue?

Just from what I've read here it sounds like you are going to need the trans dropped and inspected internally. I don't think you are looking at a simple fix on this one. Sorry.
