JCJ Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Well as I am not a fan of my new truck at all I went out to wash it only to discover it has scratches all way down the side of it. Are these trucks just cheaply made and painted or did I get the biggest POS ever? Haven't even tried to tow with it yet because I don't want to be stuck on the side of the road. The sway bar links are plastic and look stressed to the max already. Anyone else have issues with the truck?
Rawyzf Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 If you have scratches that were there on delivery, I'd talk with the dealership to get it buffed out. I don't think GM/Chevy is selling everyone a scratched up trucks, otherwise prices would be a bit lower in my opinion. If they weren't there on delivery, and you use a cloth car wash, I'd try going either touchless or do it yourself. I did have some clear coat scratches in mine, but that was from the person who the dealership had spray the bed liner in. They took care of it though and buffed them out.
Clocked92 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 My truck has some scratches in the clear coat after a winter of driving it. I keep my truck waxed pretty well and I just polished a bunch of the scratches out. Most of the scratches people think are in the paint are actually just in the clear coat and can be easily polished out. I have actually found these clear coat pens that work amazingly well on some scratches. You basically run the pen along the scratch and it disappears. Polish a little bit to get the edge off the clear coat if you added too much and then wax. Looks as good as new.
hurricanoday Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 is this another troll post? So you bought a truck and didn't look it over to see if there were any scratches or anything. No post should ever start with "As I'm not a fan of my new truck" Why would you buy a truck that you don't like?
JCJ Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 No its not a trolling post. Yes I bought it without looking it over 100%. It was covered in pollen and have never bought a new truck that had been this messed up. I do however have an appointment next week to get it fixed. Ever hear happy wife happy life, it's true in this instance. I don't have to say anymore about it but it has more of a meaning than most will ever know.
Rawyzf Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Good luck, let us know how it looks after the clean up.
Jordan18 Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 First off I will say I have no mud flaps/splash guards yet (wanted to try some weathertech no drills so had to order) and I have little chips just behind the rear wheel wells where the debris is the most. But I plan to put xpel on the rockers and in these areas as well. I also got a nice door ding in my rear passenger door courtesy of my dad that got chaffed a bit but looks like it could be just polish out. No real noticeable scratches anywhere on the body with 1300 miles now on the truck. I have iridium metallic so you can see everything if there is something.
