2011 GMC 1500 Power steering problems?

Looks like my power steering pump may be toast. Makes a loud groan type sound when turning, not near as bad going straight. I still have warranty, goes in Monday.

 

Will the power steering pump issue cause the rack to take a dump sooner than later?

Pump blows up and put shit thru the system ,

 

What do you think the answer is ?

 

If it's under warranty why the strange question ?

It goes in Monday at 7am. My concern is they will only replace the pump, being close to warranty expiring, will the rack be on its way out next?

I will update this thread tomorrow night. I will ask them about the rack too, note it on the work order.

They don't have to note anything , the pump getting replaced IS enough should anything happen soon but

 

I wouldn't worry about the whine causing any damage to the rack thou ,,,

Just called, power steering pump took a dump. Should be fixed today. Warranty is covering it.
