Possible transmission issue?

Here is the description of the issue at hand - mind you my truck is going to the dealer today.

Model : 2002 Suburban Z71

Mileage : 15200

Problem : When I step on the gas in hard acceleration (drops down a gear), then let up because someone cannot drive her ein the Washington DC area, and then resume the hard acceleration, the transmission grinds.  The set of conditions all have to occur within a small time interval, much like I described.  This issue occurred when the truck was warm (driven 30-40 miles on a 60 degree day).

I thought my wife was crazy, until the truck did it for me.  I tried to get my av to do the same thing, to see if it was something specific to the engine/Tranmission combo, but could not get it to.

Any thoughts are appreciated - I am hope the dealer can duplicate the issue based on the description.  A truck this young with all routine maitenance should not be having transmission issues.

Thanks

TIM

I had the same excuse, until i insisted they take a drive with me.

If you can do it every time, id raise a fuss and demand they ride along.

Mine does almost the same thing, but instead of grinding it sounds like there is a lot of slop in the drivetrain.  If you take off, then let off then get back on it again, it kind of like rengages itself.  It it really annoying, along with the hard shifting.

Well - I will be riding with the dealer rep today and see if I can duplicate it.  I would not characterize this a slop, that feels entirely different versus this grinding/shuttering.  Hopefully I can duplicate it tonight....stay tuned.

BTW thanks for the input on this.
