What's an ambulance package?

Recommended Posts

Looking to purchase a new condenser. Ads mention an ambulance package for some. Anybody know what it is?

I'm just going out on a limb here, but I would think its for a chasis that is intended to have an ambulance body mounted to it?

Yeah that would be my guess as well. I just find it odd that they would market it so openly. I'm really curious as to what the difference is though. Is it performance? Capacity?

It is most likely for a large capacity system or dual system

Makes perfect sense.... except for the fact that the package is also available for smaller condensers like the one for my V6. post-127619-143551821764_thumb.jpg

Could be larger piping. Just keep the v6 condenser

Gonna have to make the purchase of a new one. Mine is damaged. I was just curious as to what the difference is and if I can benefit from it or not before I buy it.

To me the A/C is aomething i leave alone. It gets hot where I live. Summer is like 6 months. I leave it stock. I dont alter it. I count on it working like it did new when i hit that switch.

Yeah, it Does take some brains to mess around with an A/C system. I'm not too happy about messing around with it either. But I'll be damned if I end up paying someone to do something that I know damn well I'm perfectly capable of doing with my own two hands. I just lack the knowledge of its chemistry... but that doesn't scare me.post-127619-143552519564_thumb.jpg

I would keep intended parts. And you need to vacuum the system to boil out all the old stuff and fill with new while hooked to the same machine. You put in a larger condenser and the spec changes to an unknown. Too lottle and it wont cool enough, too much and it wont cool at all.

AC system are a balanced systems. They are a designed system so that all components work together for the application for what ever the need is for that particular application. Any change in the system can throw the system out of balance and you end up with an inefficient system.

Don't most ambulances have a second compressor & evap in the back? Perhaps the two systems share the condenser to save space?

I take care of 5 Ambs , all Demeres Ambs , Ford F450 cab and chassis,

They have 1 compressor and 2 evap cores , they have a "T " for the lines , that's it ,

To the OP , leave the Amb part for Ambs , but OE parts for your truck and will not have any surprises
