2015 gmc sierra Map Light

I need alittle help. I have a 2015 gmc sierra all terrain and it has that little round map light between the dome lights. I know this light is suppose to stay on all the time as a map/accent light. However, i'm not sure if it is suppose to stay on during daytime as well as night. Does this map light work off of the headlight sensor so only comes on when the sensor detects the lights to come on. The reason I ask this is because recently I disabled my automatic headlights (Canada truck) by tricking the computer with a resistor telling the sensor it's daylight all the time. Now just the other day I noticed the map light isnt on anymore while driving. It does come on with the dome lights when I open the door so I know it is working. Just curious why it isnt on while driving now.

My question is, what is everyone elses map light doing. Is it just on at dark or is it suppose to be on all the time.
