Spare tire?

Recommended Posts

Looking for some opinions on what I should do about my spare. I am lifting my truck next week and installing 35" MT tires. I am wondering if I should buy something close to 35" and have it installed on the spare rim but I don't know how big of a tire will fit in the spare spot under the truck. I also wonder if the stock spare would even work if the other tires are 35"s. Any and all opinions are welcomed.

Crazy you posted this, was ready to make this exact thread yesterday!

I want to buy a 285/70/17 as a spare for my 275/70/18's but I don't know if it'll fit.

Subscribed, as I'd like to know what will fit in the spare location.

Right, there has to be at least one person that has addressed this situation after adding their lift kit or adding larger tires.

Or everyone is just driving around oblivious and without regard to potential flats.

On my 02 the stock spare tire filled up the area pretty well. I don't think it would fit much more over a stock tire

Signature says you have a 7" lift and 35", how have you addressed the spare tire Rdnckhntr94?

Hmm I need to update that. I have 7" suspension with 3" body lift and 37's stuffed under it.

Put it this way, I don't have a spare tire haha

Well nothing wrong with living dangerously I guess. I do hope someone out there has done something similar to what I am interested in. I mean my spare doesn't have to be a full 35" but something close as I am sure the moment I don't have the necessary equipment I will need it.

That happened to me in '97 when I had a flat and my wife had removed my tire tool. Long story longer, I had to run in the middle of nowhere about 9 miles to find a small gas station in hopes of finding something that would work. I know times have changed and we all have cell phones to call for help but I'm still just a little scared from that experience.
