Jlm02a3094 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I read through the 3 topics I found on this forum about adjusting the headlights, but I can't seem to locate a picture of where the screw is. I just leveled my 2015 Sierra and I'd like to lower my headlights a bit so as to avoid blinding people. Can anyone provide a picture of where the adjustment screw is located? Thanks Josh
therink Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 They are on the topside of the plastic radiator shroud, one on each side. Phillips screws. Very easy to do.
fondupot Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Yea, I need to do this. I don't drive at night much, but last night I was and I kept getting flashed by people. Best way to do it, is to park 25' away from a wall on a level surface. Measure the output at the bumper, then measure the output on the wall. You want to have the output on the wall be about 2.5" lower than the output at the bumper.
DeePa Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I just did this other night. Pull up to your garage or a wall...leave lights on. Put masking tape at the top of the cut off. Lower headlights so they're a little below the tape line, go for a test drive and see if you get flashed. It took me two tries. I went too low and had to raise them up a little.
Ag76 Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I drove my new Sierra 1500 at night for the first time last night, and the headlights seemed too low for me. I couldn't see for more than 25-30 yards in front of me at times, making me a little nervous driving on a road with a lot of curves. So I turned the adjustment screw one and a half revolutions to raise the lights up, and then went for a test drive. The adjustment seemed to help, and no one flashed their brights at me. I found a post in another forum that indicates GM released a TSB concerning a bulb upgrade for GMC trucks built before a certain date. I'm trying to find out the build date of my truck to see if it needs the headlight bulb upgrade according to the TSB. I bought one of the SLT's that had the 20% cash allowance because it had been sitting on the dealers lot for an extended period of time, so it might have been built before the GMC started updating the trucks on the production line. This TSB has probably been discussed here, I just haven't found it yet.
